Low-poly Aoraki / Mount Cook
Day 3 of #30DayMapChallenge
Polygons
I created a low-poly mesh in Blender, and using a reference image moved vertices to follow some of the main ridges and valleys in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park.
I then used elevation data from LINZ to displace this mesh, creating a jagged landscape which was still true to the real world.
A material was then assigned to each face, depending on its landcover type (snow/ice, water, gravel/rock, grass, forest).
