Meridional Circuits
Day 10 of #30DayMapChallenge
Grid
The New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 (NZTM2000) projection covers the main islands and is the preferred projection for spatial data in New Zealand. It is based on the New Zealand Geodetic Datum 2000 (NZGD2000).
Also based on NZGD2000 are 28 regional ‘meridional circuits’, each covering a smaller part of the country. Cadastral surveys must be carried out in one of these projections.
Although the meridional circuits have the same datum and units, their origins vary and so their grids are offset and rotated in relation to each other.
This map was created in ArcGIS Pro, creating a 10km measured grid for each projection. The resulting grids were then masked in Adobe Illustrator to just cover their respective regions. The background grid is NZTM2000.
